Steam Machines incoming: Digital Storm reveals $1500 SteamOS powerhouse
Tomorrow, Valve will release SteamOS to the masses, and will also be shipping its official beta Steam Machines to the 300 lucky winners of what was essentially a raffle. Up until now, we’ve only seen a couple of third-party Steam Machines, both of which take a different approach to the platform. Now, Digital Storm has teased its Steam Machine, a liquid-cooled gaming goliath unashamed of its price tag.
First, we saw iBuyPower’s $499 console-like set-top box Steam Machine. The company did not reveal the specs of the two models (the variation simply being the color of the light bar), but claimed that they would be capable of playing the entire Steam library at 60fps with a resolution of 1080p. It was not made clear if that meant at the highest settings possible, which would be impressive for that $499 price tag.
